The Royal Hobart Show, which is hosted by the Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania, is an event that celebrates all things Australian. From our country heritage and agriculture to the charms of our bustling city and from top level competition to the latest in entertainment, the show offers something for everyone.
For many years both city and country folk have been visiting the Show to soak up the sights, sounds and smells of rural Australia. The Show offers a unique hands-on learning experience for people of all age groups and free entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
As we head toward our 200th anniversary show we will be making some subtle changes to the Show presentation. Starting this year we are condensing it to 3 days, Thursday to Saturday. Hours will be 9.00am to 5.00pm Thursday, 9.00am to 9.30pm Friday including the Bulls and Barrels Rodeo and fireworks. Wednesday has been unfortunately dropped due to declining attendance as a trial this year. We will reassess based on feedback received for the following years. Wednesday was predominantly our school group day but the Show being scheduled so close to the return from school holidays has really impacted on schools ability to organise excursions so early in the term. As compensation we will provide a free child’s pass to any child who enters artwork, photography or home crafts into either of those competitions. Passes will be provided on receipt of the exhibits.
